The 3rd Shimanto Seaweed Eco-innovation Co-creation Forum" was held.

The "Shimanto Seaweed Eco-Innovation Co-Creation Center", jointly proposed by Kochi University, Kyoto University and other academic institutions, Riken Foods Corporation and other companies, Shimanto City, and Kochi Prefecture, has been selected by the National Institute of Science and Technology Agency (JST) as a regional co-creation field (nurturing type) in the 2024 "Support Program for Formation of Co-Creation Opportunities (COI-NEXT) The program was adopted as a regional co-creation field (nurturing type) of "COI-NEXT" by the National Institute of Science and Technology Development (JST) in FY2024.

With the vision of "creating sustainable local industries and local communities through seaweed-based innovation," this project will conduct environmental conservation activities, business creation, and human resource development based in Shimanto City, and will form a consortium as a place for many companies and researchers to participate in this project. In addition, the consortium has been formed as a place for many companies and researchers to participate in the project, and forums will be held regularly to disseminate the research and results.

This year's presentation will be on "Cutting Edge of Smart Aquaculture Systems with a Focus on Seaweed". If you are interested in this project, its various research themes, or the consortium, we invite you to attend the forum.

    We will promote labor-saving and mechanization in land-based aquaculture systems to ensure sustainable seaweed production. Specifically, we will derive the optimal growth environment using AI, develop systems, and conduct demonstration tests of automatic environment control technology at multiple sites.
